The birth or adoption of a child is a cause for celebration. Most of us realise our lives will never quite be the same again! As a church we recognise the importance of marking the occasion with an appropriate service of thanksgiving and celebration. An opportunity is given for parents to give thanks to God for the gift of a child - to commit themselves to caring for and providing for their child and also to commit to helping them understand something of the Christian faith as they grow older. We want children to know who they are in God's eyes and to feel a sense of belonging to the family of God's Church.
- A thanksgiving ceremony would normally take place during a morning service
- Family and friends are welcome to come along and celebrate with you
- You may want to include god parents in the service
- A candle is presented as a reminder of Jesus who is the light of the world
- A certificate is issued to mark the occasion
- There is no charge for a thanksgiving - though an optional free will offering is invited during the service.
Parents are invited to attend the church both before and after the thanksgiving as a way of preparing for this special time. This provides an opportunity to get a feel for the church and for the church family to get to know you. A warm welcome awaits you.
If you are thinking about having a service of thankgiving or a baptism service at Himley Road then please contact Rev'd Roger hides in the first instance who will arrange to come and meet with you and be able to explain what's involved and the alternative types of service available.
